Edward Yen Sang was born in England to Canadian and Chinese-Jamaican parents.
In 1972 Yen Sang married a Cork woman and soon afterwards moved to Ireland. In 1989 he decided to pick up where he left off in 1968, practising his love of art. He studied Art History and Painting at the Crawford College of Art and Design.
Yen Sang’s work, now hangs in Cognis, Rochestown Park Hotel, Coughland and De Keyser O’Neill’s Wrought Iron Company, St. Finbarr’s Hospital, Crawford Gallery as well as many other private collections in Ireland, the United States and Canada.
This show is based on some of the things that kept the artist entertained in his childhood. In a time before iPad’s, Xboxes and mobile phones, the artist says children had just lots of time and active imaginations. He talks about visits to the corner candy shop, drawing with colouring pencils, games and making model aeroplanes. The works in this show are sure to recall happy memories of your childhood days.
