Val Byrne

Val Byrne was born in Dublin where he studied art and architecture in UCD. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland. He paints the landscape of Ireland in his own unique style of both watercolours and cubist oil paintings. His primary interest is recording today’s built environment.

Byrne’s work is in numerous private and corporate collections including; Mary Mc Aleese, President of Ireland, Mary Robinson, Former President of Ireland & UN Commissioner for Human Rights, Jean Kennedy Smith, Former USA Ambassador to Ireland, French & Argentine Embassies in Ireland, Department of Foreign Affairs Embassies in Europe, USA, Africa& Asia. In 2004 Byrne completes 6 large Canvasses for the private residence of the Irish Ambassador to Australia. His work is also held in the collections of the Bank of Ireland, Great Southern Hotel Group, Radisson & Doyle Hotel Groups.

As part of the City of Culture 2005 his Naval Paintings were exhibited in Cork and are illustrated in “Maritime Paintings of Cork 1700 – 2000.
